When the motor drives the eccentric mechanism through the connecting rod to make the movable crossbeam move horizontally back and forth, the first row of movable grates first pushes the coal out from the adjustable opening at the bottom of the coal hopper, and the thickness of the coal layer is controlled by the coal distribution plate. Due to the continuous reciprocating motion of the movable grate, the coal layer is slowly pushed into the furnace from front to back, gradually preheating using the thermal radiation and high-temperature flue gas from the front arch, and the released volatile matter is ignited and burned.

  The combustible gases, black smoke, and coke produced during combustion are burned off from the front arch to the rear arch through the intermediate high-temperature combustion zone. The incompletely burned coke is pushed into the combustion zone, completely burned before leaving the furnace, and finally falls into the ash chamber at the tail. The oxygen required for the combustion of coal in the three combustion sections is supplied by the corresponding air chambers below the grate surface.
